Echoes Through Time

The word that brought creation into being, including the laws that govern it, was spoken by the Creator once. It echoes throughout the ages making the manifestation and maintenance of all life possible. Both the generations of time and the generations of man were created, and find their origins in the unchanging, ever-enduring power of the word of God.

So that the life of the many were bound up in the creation of the one. Though unseen, in the one…Adam, we, the many, all lived. The generations of all life are the result of His undying word. It resounds throughout the ages, “Let there be….” and that which is created responds in kind.

His word is the foundation for the animation of everything in heaven and earth. From the stars that light up the night sky to the sun that illuminates the day, all are empowered to live through the unchanging, ever-enduring word of His power.

Think about it, though most never make it, why do salmon, by instinct alone, egged on by some unforeseen power, struggle to make the treacherous journey upstream, to spawn at the very location where their life began? How do they know where to go? Why is it necessary for them to get there? Who programmed the caterpillar for the process of metamorphosis? What causes embryotic cells to begin the process of differentiation?  What force compels them to do so? Who or what determines what type of cell each will become?

The DNA of a human cell contains 3 billion base pairs. Yet if the first letter of each base were printed, it would take more than 1.5 million pages of text! [1]  That is a staggering amount of information contained within a biological organism, so tiny, that it can be seen only through a microscopic lense.  And, lest we forget, that is but one human cell. Our bodies and biological systems are made up of trillions of them. Who made the cells, and where did information contained in each come from? What causes them to live, almost as an entity within themselves? By whose intelligence are they input, arranged, and programmed?

If the force by which all things were made alive is His word, then it can only stand to reason, that any diversion from that word would adversely impact creation or interrupt the flow of life as He intended it to be.

Why is poverty, injustice, immorality, sickness, disease, depression, death, violence, hopelessness, helplessness, fear, anxiety, pain, sadness…… so rampant over the face of the earth? Because we have failed to understand and adhere to the significance and power of Yah’s word in our lives.

Do we really understand that He spoke everything into existence, that the unseen essence of everything that is, even life itself is a manifestation of the power of that word…of His very breath? So that, any diversion from that word creates imbalance and death in our lives, in our communities, in society and in the world.

Consider it this way. I have a Chevy Malibu. The manufacturer provided a manual specific to the make and model of my vehicle. It takes a certain type of oil and gasoline. If I decide to disregard the “word” of the manufacturer of my vehicle, choosing the oil or gasoline based on my own desire, what is certain to happen to my car? I will destroy it. If we understand we must adhere to the word of a mere manufacturer for the optimal operation and maintenance of its product, how much more must we consider the significance of our obedience to the word of the Creator of all things?

Isaiah 55:11 reads, “… My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and will prosper where I send it.”

In this passage, Yahuwah is affirming His mercy to Israel, His covenant and His desire for their good. Regarding His will, He declared the power of His word, as one sent on a mission to accomplish a purpose. And of His word He said by no means would it, once sent, return to Him without accomplishing the task for which He had sent it.

In revisiting the opening idea, the whole of the material world, the universe and all that is in them, is the result of the word of the Creator, the breath of His mouth. That which He has spoken from the beginning does not remain there, instead it echoes through time. We see it in the rising and setting of the sun, the gentle glow of the moon and stars. It is evident in the changing of the seasons. In short, the corporeal world is the material manifestation of the incorporeal. Thus, to experience the beauty and abundance of life as Yah intended for the universe and all that is in it, we must reverberate that echo with obedience to His word, in how we care for ourselves, for one another, for this world, and all that is in it.

Echoes Through Time, is a weekly blog that examines the deeper meaning of what God’s word is, it’s enduring presence and power in our lives, as well our unequivocal responsibility to adhere to its message.
